Synopsis

Formidable ex-Scotland Yard detective Millie-Jean Black, returns home to Kingston, Jamaica after her mother’s passing, hoping to rebuild her broken relationship with her sister Hibiscus, a queen of the Kingston gully. She joins the local police force to work missing persons but when a local schoolgirl disappears, Millie and her partner Curtis begin to uncover suspicious ties to a prominent family, taking her from the steaming streets of downtown Kingston, up through the post-colonial plantations of Jamaica’s elite. Millie soon discovers she isn’t the only one bringing heat, as Scotland Yard inspector Luke Holborn arrives with his own agenda.

Haunted by ghosts of her past and present – including a sibling who refuses to be saved and a child who can’t be found – Millie’s search for the truth endangers her partner Curtis, jeopardises her career and leads her on an intercontinental cat-and-mouse chase. Set against the post-colonial landscape of Jamaica and the United Kingdom, this gripping contemporary noir thriller follows one unforgettable woman’s determination to crack a case that could blow her world apart. Pretty soon, everyone is out to Get Millie Black.
